Marvel’s WONDER MAN Reportedly Getting Renewed For Season 2

Marvel might not be done with Simon Williams just yet. Word is starting to circulate that their great series Wonder Man could be heading toward a second season, even though the show was originally positioned as a limited run.

After landing strong reactions from both fans and critics, it looks like Marvel Studios is seriously considering keeping this story alive, which would be pretty cool.

The rumor comes from well-known scooper Daniel Richtman, who shared that Marvel Studios is reportedly “very close” to greenlighting Wonder Man Season 2. While that isn’t an official confirmation, fans would love for this to happen because Marvel did a great job with the story and characters.

Adding fuel to the conversation, reporter Brandon Davis also recently hinted that Wonder Man may have a bigger future within the MCU. Responding to a post from content creator Matt Ramos, who said he wanted to see Simon’s story continue, Davis replied, “Wonder Man will get more.”

That comment quickly opened the floodgates. Fans jumped in with questions about where Simon Williams could show up next. When asked if the character would appear in Avengers: Doomsday, Davis shut that idea down, saying he wouldn’t be in the film.

When pressed further on what he actually knew, Davis answered with a familiar pop culture wink by posting a meme of Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones, featuring the line, “That’s what I do. I drink, and I know things.”

As of now, Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced a second season. Still, the door is clearly open. Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum previously spoke about the possibility in an explaining that a follow-up season depends heavily on audience response.

“If it’s the only Wonder Man story, it really stands on its own as a beautiful piece,” Winderbaum said. “But I anticipate that when people get to the end of this story, they’re gonna want more. And I hope that’s what happens.”

Right now, all eight episodes of Wonder Man are available to stream on Disney+, and the series has clearly sparked enough conversation to get Marvel paying attention. The show was co-created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, with Guest also serving as showrunner.

The cast is led by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams and includes Ben Kingsley, X Mayo, Arian Moayed, Zlatko Buric, Shola Adewusi, and Demetrius Grosse.

Until Marvel makes it official, this remains firmly in rumor territory. Still, between the strong reception, the studio chatter, and those teasing comments from people in the know, Wonder Man Season 2 feels less like wishful thinking and more like a matter of time. What wouldn’t they want to continue this story!?
