Marvel's X-MEM Film Reportedly Eyeing Two Legendary Villains For Next MCU Saga

The X-Men are finally on their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with their long-awaited debut comes the question every fan wants answered, who will they face off with?

According to a new report, Marvel Studios may already have their sights set on two of the most iconic villains in mutant history, and the implications for the MCU could be massive.

Marvel insider Daniel Richtman revealed on his Patreon that Marvel is planning the “next saga” around Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse.

Richtman explained, "I hear once more Marvel's main plans for [the] next saga are for Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse." He added that while casting has yet to be finalized, the studio does "have some names they have in mind."

This update suggests that after Robert Downey Jr.’s run at Doctor Doom, the torch could be passed to these X-Men heavy hitters. Apocalypse already made his big-screen appearance in Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse, but his MCU introduction would mark a fresh start and a chance to reimagine him as one of Marvel’s most dangerous threats.

A few months ago, The Cosmic Circus reported that the MCU's X-Men reboot will introduce three primary antagonists that are different than what we are hearing today. They said is was Mister Sinister, Senator Robert Kelly, and Bolivar Trask.

While it’s worth remembering that Marvel’s long-term plans often shift, the idea of Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse stepping into the MCU spotlight is an exciting one.

Both characters have deep roots in X-Men lore. Mr. Sinister made his comic debut in The Uncanny X-Men #221 back in 1987, and has long been portrayed as a brilliant geneticist obsessed with creating the perfect race of superhumans. His schemes often intertwine with Apocalypse, making them a natural pairing for the MCU.

As for Apocalypse, he remains one of Marvel’s most powerful and enduring villains. Regarded as one of the first mutants, he was born in Ancient Egypt and used his abilities to break free from slavery and position himself as a godlike ruler.

Over the centuries, he evolved into an omega-level threat with powers that rival the likes of Thanos and Doctor Doom. He’s also the mastermind behind the original Horsemen of the Apocalypse, making him an adversary capable of changing the Marvel landscape entirely.

For now, fans will have to wait and see how Marvel rolls out its X-Men plans.
