Marvel's X-MEN Reboot Rumor Adds ONE PIECE Star Emily Rudd and GEN V Actress Maddie Phillips to the Emma Frost Shortlist
Marvel Studios hasn't revealed who will make up its new team of mutants yet, but the rumor mill keeps cranking out intriguing casting possibilities.
The latest report suggests that the competition for Emma Frost may be getting even more interesting, with One Piece star Emily Rudd and Gen V actress Maddie Phillips reportedly joining the list of actresses being considered for the iconic X-Men character.
For a while now, rumors have pointed to Sydney Sweeney as a possible choice for Emma Frost, with Margot Robbie also frequently mentioned in fan discussions. As always, though, none of that has been confirmed by Marvel Studios, so it's all still firmly in rumor territory.
According to X scooper @mainmiddleman, "Maddie Phillips and Emily Rudd are also in the running for the role of Emma Frost in X-Men." If there's any truth to the report, both actresses would bring something different to the table.
Phillips has steadily built an impressive résumé over the last several years. She appeared as Randeen in Ghost Wars, played Devon D'Marco in Project Mc2, and starred as Sterling Wesley in Teenage Bounty Hunters. She also played Cate Dunlap, a character she's portrayed in both The Boys universe and its spinoff series, Gen V.
Rudd, meanwhile, won over audiences as Nami in Netflix's live-action adaptation of One Piece. She also pulled double duty in Netflix's Fear Street film trilogy, playing both Cindy Berman and Abigail Berman, showing off her range across two very different characters.
Emma Frost has long been one of Marvel's most fascinating mutant characters. Whether she's serving as an X-Men ally, a member of the Hellfire Club, or walking the line between hero and antihero, the White Queen always commands attention. Whoever lands the role will have some big expectations to meet.
Marvel's X-Men reboot remains one of the studio's biggest mysteries. While story details continue to stay under wraps, we do know that Jake Schreier, who previously directed Thunderbolts*, is set to helm the film.
