Mason Thames Set to Star in Coming-of-Age Comedy NARCS for Sony Pictures

Actor Mason Thames (How to Train Your Dragon, Black Phone) has signed on to star in Narcs, a new coming-of-age comedy from Sony Pictures.

Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps. John Phillips, whose writing credits include the R-rated comedies No Hard Feelings, Good Boys and Dirty Grandpa, is set to make his directorial debut with the pic.

The script is written by Jordan & Justin Shipley (creators of TBS comedy Wrecked) with a rewrite by Phillips & frequent collaborator Gene Stupnitsky.

While previously appearing in Netflix’s Incoming, from Dave and John Chernin, Thames has gotten further opportunities to demonstrate his comedic chops recently via Idiots, Macon Blair’s R-rated road trip flick acquired by Independent Film Company after premiering at Sundance, as well as the Green Day project Nimrods. Upcoming, the actor will also be seen starring in the John Wick spin-off Caine helmed by Donnie Yen.

He is also set to reprise his role in the live-action sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2, which is due for release on June 11, 2027.
