MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE - He-Man’s Power Sword and Skeletor’s Havoc Staff Revealed at Comic-Con

The power of Grayskull has made its presence known at San Diego Comic-Con with a display which got Masters of the Universe fans fired up. While the upcoming live-action adaptation from Amazon MGM hasn’t revealed its characters just yet, Comic-Con did bless us with an official look at two of the franchise’s most iconic weapons… He-Man’s Power Sword and Skeletor’s Havoc Staff.

The Sword of Grayskull and that menacing ram-headed Havoc Staff were front and center, giving fans a tangible taste of the world being built for the upcoming film. These are weapons of the epic battle for Eternia that’s about to unfold.

The Masters of the Universe reboot stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam aka He-Man and Jared Leto as the sinister Skeletor. The sword is a core part of MOTU lore, gifted to Prince Adam by the Sorceress to unlock his heroic transformation. You know the line—“By the power of Grayskull...”

Earlier this week, Amazon MGM also revealed the film’s official logo, accompanied by a remix of the classic '80s animated theme that triggered pure nostalgia.

The rest of the cast is packed with Camila Mendes as Teela, with Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress. James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley portray King Randor and Queen Marlena, and Alison Brie steps into the role of Evil-Lyn. We’ll also see Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, and Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man.

After years of development hell, Netflix's version fell apart in 2022, and the project finally landed in the hands of Amazon/MGM. Now, with Travis Knight (Bumblebee) directing and a script rewrite by Chris Butler, things are finally moving in the right direction. The script originally came from David Callaham, with the Nee Brothers previously attached as directors.

The film’s story takes a slightly different approach to the mythology. This time around, “10-year-old Prince Adam crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.

“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”

Produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and DeVon Franklin, Masters of the Universe is slated to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.
