MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Stills Reveal Our Best Look Yet at Ram Man, Fisto, and Castle Grayskull

This summer’s Masters of the Universe is shaping up to be a massive swing for fantasy fans, and a batch of newly released stills just gave us a much clearer look at what director Travis Knight has cooking.

From Ram Man smashing into frame to a haunting glimpse of Castle Grayskull, the live-action reboot is leaning hard into its animated roots while aiming to bring Eternia to life for a new generation.

The images are featured in Empire Magazine, and they spotlight some fan-favorite Heroic Warriors in full costume, and they’re exactly the kind of throwback energy longtime fans were hoping for.

We get our clearest look yet at Jon Xue Zhang suited up as Ram Man, Eternia’s human battering ram. The character looks ripped straight out of the toy shelf in the best way possible.

He’s seen alongside Teela, Dian, and Mekaneck, and the production design feels unapologetically colorful and heightened.

Another standout shot gives us Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, whose massive metal hand translates surprisingly well into live-action. The design keeps that exaggerated fantasy edge without tipping into parody.

Teela appears again in these images, including a higher-quality look at her alongside He-Man and Knight on set, giving us a better sense of how the core team will look assembled.

There’s also concept art for Castle Grayskull reveals a foreboding, skull-faced fortress that looks ripped straight from the Filmation series but filtered through an epic fantasy lens.

In the animated series, Grayskull was constantly under siege by Skeletor, Hordak, and the Snake Men, all desperate to unlock the secrets inside and claim the power to rule Eternia and the universe itself. That mythology appears intact here, and it looks awesome.

Production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas talked about the fil’s design, saying: "Our mission on this was to be as purely faithful to the original '80s animation as we possibly could without it getting distracting or silly. This was a world that needed to be rendered in all its original, wacky, Technicolor madness."

In Masters of the Universe, Knight brings the legendary franchise back to theaters in a full-scale live-action adventure. The story follows Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, who’s been separated from Eternia for 15 years. When the Sword of Power calls him home, he returns to find his world broken under the rule of Skeletor, played by Jared Leto.

To save Eternia, Adam teams up with Teela, played by Camila Mendes, and Duncan, also known as Man-At-Arms, played by Idris Elba. He’ll have to embrace his destiny and become He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.

The cast also includes Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Charlotte Riley, and Kristen Wiig.

If the movie can strike that sweet spot between fan service and accessibility for newcomers, it could easily become one of the biggest fantasy blockbusters of the year. Eternia has always been wild, colorful, and larger than life.

Masters of the Universe hits theaters on June 5. By the power of Grayskull, let’s hope it delivers.
