Matt Bomer Saddles Up With THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

The cast of Antoine Fuqua's remake of The Magnificent Seven continues to grow, and THR reports that Matt Bomer is the latest to join the all-star cast. Bomer, who earned rave reviews for his performance in HBO's The Normal Heart, won't be playing one of the titular seven, which currently consists of Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ethan Hawke, Wagner Moura, and possibly Byung-hun Lee (whose presence in the film has been confirmed, but his character details have not). Jason Momoa will play a henchman, and Luke Grimes' role is still under wraps.

The Equalizer star Haley Bennett has also been cast, and Bomer will play her character's husband, a guy who attempts to stand up to an evil robber baron who's terrorizing their small town. Fuqua's movies are pretty hit-or-miss for me — for every Training Day, there's a Shooter — but with this cast, The Magnificent Seven could end up being one of his better efforts.

Bomer will next be seen in Magic Mike XXL, which hits theaters on July 1st.
