Matt Damon is Okay with Being Replaced By a Younger Actor as Jason Bourne
When it comes to the Bourne franchise, Matt Damon is aware his days are numbered. THR says the actor acknowledged that one day a younger actor may come along to star in the franchise he started:
"That happens to everybody and they reboot these things, and that’s totally fine.” He continued, “The only control I can exercise is over the ones that I’m part of. I’m the curator of them as long as I’m involved and that’s why I battled so hard to make sure that we got the same creative people [including director Paul Greengrass] to get involved in this one.”
I'm sure the wording of that answer was prompted by the specific question asked, but it's interesting that Damon specifically stated he was okay with a "younger" Bourne. Maybe that was an inside jab at the attempt to bring Jeremy Renner into the fold a couple years back with The Bourne Legacy. It could even be a hint that we'll be seeing prequels to the Bourne films when he was a brainwashed agent. It's most likely nothing and I'm reading far too into things. I'm just so excited for this movie, I can't help it!
