Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, and Julianne Moore Up For Clooney's Noir Drama SUBURBICON
George Clooney's directing career has seen its share of hits and misses, but his next directorial effort definitely sounds like a slam dunk. It's a movie called Suburbicon, and it's written by Joel and Ethan Coen. The plot details are still a mystery, but it's being described as a noir drama in the vein of the Coens' own Blood Simple that's set in the 1950s. Now Deadline reports that the film is gathering a cast, and it's full of veteran actors who I'd love to see in a period piece like this.
Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, and Julianne Moore are all in talks to star, and I suppose securing a cast as talented as this is one of the many benefits of being George Clooney. This film is still a long way off — production starts in October 2016 — but I wouldn't be surprised to see it on some "Best of 2017" year-end lists in two years around this time. But while we wait for it to get underway, we'll see at least four of the people involved with this film collaborate on next year's Hail, Caesar!, the Coen Brothers' new movie that stars Clooney and Brolin.
