Matt Reeves Is Most Likely Going to Direct THE BATMAN Because He Was Offered the Job

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has officially offered the job of directing The Batman to Matt Reeves. The news comes shortly after Ben Affleck stepped down. Reeves has directed such movies as Let Me In, Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the soon to be released War for the Planet of the Apes. An impressive stable of movies that I think would lend well to the tone that The Batman will be going for.

Affleck stepped away because he felt the project was getting too big for him to do both acting and directing, but did say that he wanted someone who he could collaborate with. I think the real question is, regardless of who they get to direct, will Warner Bros. let the creative people do their job without much interference?

The Batman represents Warner Bros' chance at redemption. I thought Batman was the best part of Batman v. Superman, and I'm cautiously optimistic seeing them take their time to get the right people involved.
