Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN Is Reportedly Set on DC's Earth-2
Some new details have emerged for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, that DC fans might be interested in learning. While the movie and the spinoff series are a standalone part of the DC Films Universe, sources are reporting that WB and DC are giving these projects a place in the DC Multiverse and that place is in the Earth-2 universe.
Heat Vision reports, “Except for The Batman, which is set on an alternate Earth known to geeks as Earth-2, DC is plotting its films and shows to share the same universe. Key to setting up its new status quo will be The Flash (Nov. 4, 2022)..."
This is interesting and it makes me wonder if we will see other heroes from the Earth-2 universe at some point. After all, in the comics, these alternate universes don’t only focus on one character. The Batman being a part of the DC Multiverse wasn’t the original plan, but with The Flash movie looking to break the Multiverse open, the studio is in a position where they can do what they want.
It’ll be interesting to how this might evolve, especially with Reeves looking to expand the universe with his Gotham City P.D. spinoff series. Of course, there’s always the chance that Robert Pattinson's Batman will be the only superhero character played with this Earth-2 universe.
