Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN - PART II Gets a 2025 Release Date and Its Place in DC Studios Is Confirmed

DC Studios just shared its upcoming slate of films and TV shows that will be developed under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran. It’s quite a list, but there’s another movie that DC fans have been excited about that is separate from what Gunn and Safran are working on. That project is the sequel to Matt ReevesThe Batman, which is now officially titled The Batman - Part II.

During the big DC Studios event, it was announced that The Batman - Part II will be released in theaters on October 3, 2025. It’s a long way to go, but it’s coming!

Gunn and Safran shared their excitement for Reeves' work on the BatVerse and confirmed the world he's building is a part of DC Studios' non-DCU "Elseworlds" line. They also seemed to suggest that Reeves could be directing a third film in the franchise to round out a trilogy, which isn’t surprising. Gunn said:

"Matt is working on Batman 2, which he thinks of it as a Batman crime saga, which also includes the Penguin TV series. And it is its own thing, and he's hard at work on that. He came in and pitched us some amazing, really cool stuff the other day. Our plan is for that to continue."

Safran then confirmed the film is still under the DC Studios umbrella, even though it's not part of the main franchise. He added: "We are fully invested in the success of The Batman, just like we are everything else.”
