Mattel's AMERICAN GIRL DOLL Brand is Getting a New Feature Film Adaptation

As a father who has been raising three girls, I’ve spent my fair share of money on American Girl Dolls over the years. Luckily they are over them now, but there was a time when that is all they wanted!

Well, Hollywood is looking to cash in on the brand now, and MGM and Mattel Films are teaming up to develop a live-action feature film. There’s no information on if the story will focus on one or multiple dolls.

For those of you not familiar with the America Girl Doll brand, it launched in 1986, and there was also a book series that told the story of all the doll characters. Each character had a historically based backstory from different cultures and periods of time.

Back in 2008, New Line made a feature adaptation of American Girl's Kit Kittredge character, Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, which starred Abigail Breslin.

Personally, I think this should be a horror film. Whenever I’ve seen these dolls laying around the house or sitting on a shelve, I can’t help but think that they will come alive and start terrorizing us.
