Matthew Broderick is Set to Play Adult Ralphie in Fox's A CHRISTMAS STORY Live Musical

These live televised musicals that NBC started have become the new craze. Now Fox is jumping in on the action and doing a live musical version of the classic 1983 film A Christmas Story, which is my favorite Christmas movie ever.

It was recently announced that Matthew Broderick is set to star in the live televised event as the adult version of Ralphie, who is the narrator of the story. I've gotta say... that's pretty perfect casting in my opinion. He's such a Ralphie-like kinda guy!

The narration in the original film was done by Jean Shepherd, who created A Christmas Story in 1966 with a short story that he wrote. The story revolves around a nine-year-old boy, who is hoping and wishing for the perfect Christmas gift... "a Red Ryder, carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle, with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time."

This musical rendition of A Christmas Story had a short Broadway run back in 2013 and the music comes from composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who recently worked on La La Land. They also wrote some new songs for the TV telecast.

A Christmas Story Live! is set to air December 17th and it will be a three-hour telecast.
