Matthew Lillard Says His SCREAM Character Stu Macher Is "Definitely Alive"
One character that I’ve been hoping to see return to the Scream franchise is Matthew Lilard’s Stu Macher. I never believed that he died in the film and that he’s still alive out there.
Lillard believes that Stu is alive as well and during a recent appearance on Drew Barrymore’s talk show, he talked about a potential return to the Scream saga.
When asked if he would reprise his role, he responded: “Stu is definitely alive, right? My character Stu is definitely alive. I would love it. If it made sense for the franchise. If Kevin [Williamson] liked it. Then sure. Obviously.”
As you may remember, Stu was stabbed multiple times in Scream before having a TV set dropped on his head. I just want to point out that these are all Injuries that one could conceivably survive.
The question is… will we see Lillard get to reprise his role after all these years? I hope so, but it’s not up to me. It’s up the creative team and the upcoming Scream 7 movie is being helmed by franchise creator Kevin Williamson.
That new movie will bring Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott back into the fold, and it would make scenes for Williamson to embrace the key legacy elements with his own return to the franchise.
But, we’ll have to wait and see.
