Matthew McConaughey Set to Star in the Crime Thriller THE RIVALS OF AMZIAH KING
Matthew McConaughey is set to star in an upcoming crime thriller titled The Rivals of Amziah King, which will be written and directed by Andrew Patterson (The Vast of Night).
While there aren’t many plot details to share, the movie is described as “a deeply atmospheric, character-focused crime thriller set against the unique backdrop of remote Oklahoma.” McConaughey will take on the role of Amziah King.
David Heyman is a producer on the movie and he said in a statement: “When I first watched The Vast of Night it was clear me that Andrew Patterson was a remarkable talent with a singular vision. I am incredibly excited to be working with Andrew and to support him and Matthew as they bring Amziah to life and make what I believe will be an extraordinary film.”
Producer Teddy Schwarzman shared in a statement: “Black Bear is thrilled to partner with our friends at Heyday in supporting the bold creation that will be The Rivals of Amziah King. Andrew Patterson’s visionary filmmaking and Matthew McConaughey’s extraordinary talent are sure to deliver audiences a truly original and compelling film.”
The Vast of Night was a great little indie film and I’m looking forward to seeing what the filmmaker has in store for this next project of his! It also sounds like it’ll be a fun project for McConaughey.
