Matthew McConaughy Is Open to a STAR WARS Movie Offer

Disney and Lucasfilm plan on making Star Wars movies as long as the fans still demand them. A lot of actors and directors are going to have their shot at helping bring these stories to life, whether it's part of the "Episode" saga or a stand alone film.

In a recent interview with Interstellar star Matthew McConaughy, the actor talked about his love for Star Wars and revealed that his favorite character is Chewbacca. He also says that he would be interested in a role for a Star Wars film if the script were good and the character is right for him. Here's what the actor had to say when asked if he would take on a role in the franchise:

“Sure – there’s not anything that I’m not open to embracing. I want it to be a quality script, I want a quality character. I want to be a little scared of it. I want to have new challenges. I want to do something… find in a character where I can get to a point where I feel like nobody could be doing this but me. I’m going to have an original experience… an original take. That takes work to get to that point, but whatever the genre I’m wide open.”

Wow, his attitude about the movies he stars in has sure changed. Remember back in the day when he was making shitty movies like Surfer Dude, Fool's Gold, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Wedding Planner, and Failure to Launch? Who would have thought he would have come to a point like this in his career? Not me! I hated a lot of the movies that he made in the early 2000s. None of those had quality scripts or characters.

As for why Chewie is his favorite Star Wars character, he says,

“King Kong is one of my favourite love stories. I’ve got an affection for the mammalian in all of us. I’m simple – I’ve always got a soft spot for the furry creatures.”

McConaughy has proven himself to be an incredible actor regardless of his stretch of bad movies, and it would be cool to see him take on a role in one of these upcoming Star Wars movies that Lucasfilm is looking to develop. I could see him as some kind of intergalactic anti-hero.
