Matthew Vaughn Confirms He's Been in Talks To Direct MAN OF STEEL 2
About six months ago a rumor surfaced saying that director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman) was wanted by Warner Bros. to direct Man of Steel 2. Well, the director confirmed himself that he has talked with the studio about taking it on.
During a recent press event for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Vaughn told HeyUGuys:
“I am planning another Kingman, I’ve written the treatment and some of the scenes…I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I have had chats about Superman, I love Superman.
“If somebody asks me to do Indiana Jones, most of the superheros or Star Wars the fanboy in me can’t help but be excited.”
I would love to see Vaughn direct Man of Steel 2! Hell, it would be great to see him take on any of those film franchises! I bet he would do something crazy awesome with Superman. He just has such an energetic and wild fun filmmaking style. When previously talking about what he would do with the Superman film franchise, he said:
“I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious The Dark Knight version. Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me.”
That's exactly how I feel about the character, which is why I hope something actually ends up coming from the conversations that he has had with the studio. It'd be so cool to report one day in the near future that he is officially attached to direct the movie.
What do you think about the possibility of seeing Vaughn direct Man of Steel 2?
