Max Confirms VELMA Has Been Canceled and Releases Statement

Max has confirmed that its adult-themed Scooby-Doo inspired animated series Velma has been canceled. The news comes after background artist Davey Cummings shared on a now-deleted Instagram post: “There will not be a Season 3, but I hope I get to work with these amazing talented people again one day.”

Max has released a statement, saying: “Over the past two seasons, Mindy [Kaling] and Charlie [Grandy] have created an incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise.

“While we won’t be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivaled clues, and hilarious hijinks.”

I think it’s safe to say that the series won’t be missed.

Velma told the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the unsung and underappreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang. The comedy aspect of the series fell completely flat. There was really nothing funny about it.
