Max Landis Shares His POWER RANGERS Script That Was a Love Letter to the Original Series
The script Max Landis wrote for the Power Rangers movie has leaked to the web, and it's about as faithful to the original '90s series as you can get! As we all know, the upcoming Power Rangers clearly took a grittier and transformative direction than what Landis wrote, so he was pulled off the project for an alternate idea. The 128-page script can be found right here and reads like a classic Power Rangers episode.

Not even a couple pages in and we already have Billy, Jason, Bulk, and Skull having an exchange on a beach littered with dead fish. The whole project is kind of hard to describe. It's like The Power Rangers you know from back in the day, but if they were a bit edgier and violent. At times it's perfect, and at others, it comes off as kind of odd. There's a scene where Zordon is trying to crack jokes, and I flat out said aloud, "This is whack," but I guess that's what rewrites are for. It's just my personal opinion, of course, and maybe my imagining of the film is wildly different from what you'll read.
