Max Von Sydow To Play Previously Established Character in GAME OF THRONES Season 6
Cool news from beyond the Wall: legendary actor Max von Sydow has joined the cast of HBO's Game of Thrones for season 6. EW reports that he's already filming in Belfast, and he'll take over the role of the Three-Eyed Raven, the mysterious man who is tutoring Bran Stark.
Von Sydow's career includes standout performances in The Seventh Seal, The Exorcist, Flash Gordon, and Minority Report, among many others, as well as a role in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He's a hell of an addition to an already-stacked cast, which also recently added Deadwood alum Ian McShane. EW says both actors aren't expected to have a lot of screen time next season, but "both roles are crucial in their own way."
We knew that actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright would return as Bran next year after sitting out the fifth season, and now it seems that whatever magic he's working on up there will be under the tutelage of one of the greatest veteran actors in Hollywood history.
