Maya Erskine To Star Opposite Donald Glover in Amazon's MR. & MRS. SMITH Action Series

PEN15 co-creator/star Maya Erskine is set to star alongside Donald Glover in Amazon’s upcoming Mr. & Mrs. Smith reboot series. She will replace Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who was initially set to take on the lead female role. She left the project last fall.

Glover confirmed the casting in an interview for Interview magazine saying, “She’s dope. It’s exciting. I really love the show. I’m writing the finale now.” He also addressed Waller-Bridge’s exit saying that she departed due to “classic creative differences.”

The show is said to be “a new take and iteration” on the 2005 film, which starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as a “couple in a stagnating marriage, live a deceptively mundane existence. However, each has been hiding a secret from the other: they are assassins working for adversarial agencies. When they are both assigned to kill the same target the truth comes to the surface. Finally free from their cover stories, they discover that they have been assigned to kill each other, sparking a series of explosive attacks.”

I like Maya Erskine and I think her and Glover working together on this series is going to be great! With Glover writing and producing the series, I’m looking forward to seeing what he does with it. He has a unique vision with the projects he develops and I’m sure this is going to make for a great show.
