McG is No Longer Directing MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE! Thank You!

McG no longer has "the POWER!!!!" The Terminator: Salvation director, who has been attached to direct Masters of the Universe for awhile now, is no longer a part of the production. This is great news!

It was recently reported that Sony Pictures would be releasing the film on September 20th, 2019 and at the time it was still believed that McG would be directing the film. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of McG or the films that he's made, so I couldn't be happier about this.

The news comes from EW, who says that the studio is currently on the hunt for a new director. They also reveal that David S. Goyer (Batman BeginsMan of Steel) is currently writing the screenplay for the new feature film adaptation of the classic He-Man cartoon series. The studio is also looking at meeting with high profile actors to fill the roles in the film.

Masters of the Universe has been in and out of development for years. Earlier on, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra director Jon Chu was attached to direct the film from a script by Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow. One of the earliest drafts of the script was written by Justin Marks (The Jungle Book). It was called Greyskull and everything I heard about it was epic! I kind of wish the studio would just revisit that script.

It'll be interesting to see who the studio brings on to next to direct the movie. Is there anyone you'd like to see take it on?
