MACGRUBER Director Jorma Taccone To Helm an Imaginative Fantasy Adventure Film MOONLAND
Jorma Taccone (MacGruber, Saturday Night Live) has jumped on board an interesting new fantasy adventure film project titled Moonland. The script for the film was written by Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords) and it sounds like a movie that will be filled with child-like imagination.
According to The Ankler, the story "follows an 11-year-old girl who builds a flying bicycle that takes her to a magical world where she quickly gets wrapped up in an exciting adventure that sees her escaping capture and helping a knight rescue a princess."
That sounds like the kind of wonderfully charming adventure film that we’d see in the 80s. Back in 2013, McKenzie teased this musical project he was working on and described as a mix of The Muppets and The Princess Bride. He said:
"I want to make a comedy musical with singing dragons and monsters and stuff. [It's] live-action, so it would be a mixture of The Muppets and The Princess Bride....it's definitely my favorite thing I'm working on at the moment."
This project is now actually going to get made. James Bobin (The Muppets) was originally attached to the project and developing it with Mackenzie, but Taccone has now come in to take over the directing duties.
I’m looking forward to seeing how this project comes together. It sounds like the kind of movie that I’d enjoy!
