McG's TRUE LIES Series Gets a Series Order From CBS
After six years of effort to get a True Lies TV series off the ground, McG’s project finally got a series order and CBS. The show is a reboot of James Cameron’s classic 1994 action film, which is one of my all-time favorites. I love that movie, it set a high bar, and it’s going to be really hard for this series to capture that same magic. I honestly don’t know how they are going to pull it off.
The series stars Steve Howey, Ginger Gonzaga, Erica Hernandez, Omar Miller, Mike O’Gorman, Annabella Didion and Lucas Jaye. Here’s the synopsis for the series:
Shocked to discover that her bland and unremarkable computer consultant husband is a skilled international spy, an unfulfilled suburban housewife is propelled into a life of danger and adventure when she’s recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage.
James Cameron is a producer on the project along with Burn Notice producer Matt Nix, so it will be interesting to see if this actually ends up being a decent series. But, I’m not getting my hopes up. It’s just going to be hard to reach that bar that was set by the movie.
