McKenna Grace Will Play a Young Carol Danvers in CAPTAIN MARVEL
A lot of people have been cast in Captain Marvel without their roles being confirmed. It appears one of those has been confirmed now. MCU Exchange reports that McKenna Grace’s role has been confirmed to be a young Carol Danvers. Grace is best known for her role in Gifted with Chris Evans.
With the film being an origin story, this isn’t too surprising as we undoubtedly would be shown part of Carol’s past. The report also says that Kenneth Mitchell is rumored to be Carol’s father and Annette Bening is rumored to be her mother. We don’t know how much of a role her past and family will play in the film, but this may point to a decent sized role.
The story of the film is set in the 90s and it follows Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight. The Kree alien race will also be a major part of the story.
Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who directed Mississippi Grind. The most recent script comes from Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider). The film also stars Brie Larson, Ben Mendelsohn as the villain, Jude Law as Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg will reprise his role as Agent Coulson, and Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou will be back as the Kree villain Ronan the Accuser and his henchman Korath the Pursuer.
The movie is set to be released on March 8th, 2019.
