Meet the New Generation of Ninja Turtles in TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: THE LAST RONIN - THE LOST YEARS

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is an incredible comic story. It follows a lonely Michelangelo in a world where his brothers and father have fallen and the Foot Clan rule New York. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it. I got it for Christmas and devoured it. All that aside, the comic does open the door for a new generation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Recently, IDW launched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin - The Lost Years. This is a prequel and sequel series to The Last Ronin. It follows Michelangelo in his time leading up to the events of The Last Ronin as well as the present with Casey Marie Jones training four new turtles.

The new turtles are Odyn, Yi, Moja, and Uno. They’re still infants as of the release of The Lost Years #1 and it should be interesting to see how they grow. The Lost Years is written by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz and features art by Ben Bishop (The Last Ronin). Talking about the designs, Bishop told Gizmodo:

When Kevin Eastman asks you to design NEW TURTLES, there was really no question. I came out swinging with 12 different new turtle designs, from babies to teenagers.

Those made the rounds for a week or so while everyone picked out their favorite four. This was a crazy exciting time; Nickelodeon loved the designs, and ultimately we all settled on the four you’ll meet in Lost Years #1.

You can read The Lost Years #1 now from you favorite comic shop and look forward to The Lost Years #2 when it goes on sale March 15.

RETURN TO THE RONIN-VERSE! In the smash-hit miniseries TMNT: The Last Ronin, readers were taken on a pulse-pounding trek through time—past, present, future—to witness the final gut-wrenching days of the Heroes in a Half Shell. For Michelangelo in particular, the march to his heartbreaking last battle was long and dangerous, taking him from New York City, to Japan, across Asia and Europe, and then back home again to administer final justice against those guilty of killing his family. But what happened during those fateful years when he had only the need for vengeance and Master Splinter’s journal to guide him? What battles did he fight? What hard lessons did he learn? The time has come to find out as original miniseries writers Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz join artist Ben Bishop (TMNT: The Last Ronin) to finally reveal what adventures the Last Ronin experienced during his vengeful journey. While in the present, a new master, Casey Marie Jones, prepares her young terrapin students to be the next generation of…Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
