Megatron Was Originally Going to Have a Badass Scene in BUMBLEBEE, But It Had to Be Cut
There is so much to love about Bumblebee. It’s so good that I wish that it weren’t connected to the other Transformers films. I wish this would have been a hard reboot to the franchise. But, unfortunately it’s connected to the rest of the universe, and because of that connection there was a badass scene featuring Megatron that had to be cut out of the movie.
Yep, there was a time when a generation one version of Megatron would have appeared in the movie! Not being able to see that generation one design of the villain on the big screen is enough to disappoint the fans, but just wait until you learn what director Travis Knight had in store for him!
"I had this whole thing boarded where we’re where we see Megatron and he comes in like Sauron, just blowing shit up and laying waste to everything.”
That would have been awesome to see! So why did the scene have to be cut? The director explains:
“However, we then realized in this world, Megatron is currently frozen on Earth, as seen in 2007's Transformers, so that was out."
Booooo! They should’ve ignored that shit. I have no idea what the future of the franchise holds. We know that there are more films coming, but if everything is going to be connected to the previously films, the creative teams are going to have their hands tied on certain things and be restricted and that’s a shame.
Would you have liked to see this Megatron scene brought to life in Bumblebee? Do you think they should have rebooted the Transformers franchise with this movie, or do you think all the new films should connect with the old ones?
