Mel Brooks Is Producing a YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Live Musical for ABC
If you’re a fan of the classic film Young Frankenstein, you might be happy to learn that Mel Brooks is bringing the stage musical version of the hilarious film to ABC. This will be a live musical broadcast, and casting is currently underway.
Young Frankenstein is one of my favorite comedies of all time. I’ve never seen the stage musical version of it, but I’ll be looking forward to watching the live broadcast!
Young Frankenstein was released originally released in 1974. Brooks co-wrote the screenplay with the film’s star, Gene Wilder, and he directed it. It tells the story of the grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein ,a.k.a. Fronk-en-steen, as he travels to Transylvania and continues his grandfather’s work.
The stage version of the story debuted in 2007, and Brooks wrote the music and lyrics for it. The production ran on Broadway for two years and was nominated for three Tony Awards. The West End production ran from 2017 to 2018.
It’ll be interesting to see who ends up being cast in the lead roles! Do you have any idea of who should be cast?
