MGM Is Developing a Boy George Biopic for the Big Screen

We seem to be in the golden age of biopics, as we all enjoyed the smash hit Bohemian Rhapsody last year, about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, and this weekend fans are rushing to theaters to check out the Elton John biopic, Rocketman. MGM recently announced that they’re making an Aretha Franklin film as well, chronicling the Queen of Soul, and now we have brand new news that MGM is bringing us a biopic about the life and music of Boy George.

Deadline reports the following about the film:

The untitled Boy George film will explore his humble beginnings in an Irish a working-class family, through his rise to the top of the international charts with the ’80s band Culture Club. The larger-than-life George never disguised who he was – a fearless, ruthlessly honest young man with an open identity who was years ahead of his time.

I grew up wit the music of Boy George and always thought he was cool, but never really knew much about his personal life. I also didn’t really think about or appreciate how hard it must have been to have been so different like he was in a time that it wasn’t as accepted as it is now. Boy George has always been a trendsetter and so true to himself. I think it will be really interesting to see the inside story on the Culture Club frontman.

Are you guys excited about this movie? Who is a favorite musician you’d like to see a biopic made about?
