MGM is Moving Forward with LEGALLY BLONDE 3 with Writers Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor

MGM has hired Mindy Kaling (The Office, The Mindy Project) and Dan Goor (Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) to write the script for Legally Blonde 3. Reese Witherspoon is still attached to reprise her role as Elle Woods. The franchise’s original producer Marc Platt will also return to help develop the project.

There was a script for the film written by original scribes Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah, but whatever they turned in wasn’t the direction Witherspoon or the producers wanted to see it go in. This new script will be entirely new and is said to have a “new fresh spin” on the story.

Kaling and Goor are both talented comedy writers and I’m sure they will deliver a solid script for this third Legally Blonde movie. If you’re a fan of the franchise, having these writers on board should get you excited for what’s to come.

This is one of several projects in development at MGM right now. They are also developing Ron Howard’s Thirteen Lives, Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Astronaut movie Project Hail Mary with Ryan Gosling, George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing, David Slade’s Dark Harvest, and Ridley Scott’s Lady Gaga Gucci project set for Nov. 26, 2021.
