MGM Sets LEGALLY BLONDE 3 for a May 2022 Release Date
MGM has set a new release date for the long-awaited sequel Legally Blonde 3. The first film, which was released in 2001, saw a 2003 sequel, as well as a Broadway musical adaptation, and fans have been hearing about a possible third film for a few years now. But MGM made it official with the following tweet:
The sequel is set to be written by Emmy Award-winning writer and actress Mindy Kaling (The Office, The Mindy Project) and Dan Goor (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), with original star Reese Witherspoon set to return to the role of Elle Woods, a sorority-type bombshell who decided to go to law school on a whim to get her boyfriend back in the first film. She then discovered she could do anything she could put her mind to, and became a prominent law student on her way to greatness. A synopsis has not been released, but the film is said to be a return to the original feeling of female empowerment from the first film, and will be a movie that draws back its original audience.
This sounds like it will be a lot of fun. It is a long way off, coming in May 2022, but I look forward to hearing more about it while we wait.
