Michael B. Jordan is Rumored to Have Come Back to MIAMI VICE Negotiations Asking for an Oscar-Winner's Salary
Recent Academy Award winner Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Black Panther, Sinners) is moving through Hollywood a little differently these days. Since winning the Best Actor award this month for his dual role in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, the actor, or at least his manager, knows the price has gone up to hire him for future roles.
It was already clear that Jordan brings big screen appeal, having starred in several successful films, TV series, and franchises, but that golden trophy legitimizes his work in an even bigger way.
One project Jordan has been preliminarily tied to for several months is the new film version of Miami Vice, which has Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick, F1) in the director’s chair. While Jordan is reportedly tied to the character Ricardo Tubbs, Austin Butler is rumored to be in talks to play James “Sonny” Crockett in the new film.
But if a new rumor is true, Jordan may have thrown a new request into the negotiations with Universal. According to The InSneider, Jordan is asking for an $18 million paycheck for the gig.
This is a totally reasonable request, as most of Hollywood’s A-listers these days are making at least this amount for their big blockbuster features. This is an average paycheck for most of the main Marvel actors, with Robert Downey Jr. making much more than that for his last two Avengers movies.
Miami Vice is shaping up to be a huge box office hit, and Jordan is worth the asking price, as he will surely be part of the film’s appeal. And if Butler signs on as well, that just sounds like a great team up and time at the movies.
Miami Vice is scheduled to hit theaters next summer on August 6th, 2027. Stay tuned for updates as it heads toward production.
