Michael B. Jordan Isn't Getting Too Excited About BLACK PANTHER Winning Any Oscars
I thought Black Panther was an amazing movie. However, I still think it’s a stretch to say it deserves the Oscar for Best Picture. The final act was fun, but not the best thing ever. I would say it deserves to at least be nominated for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup & Hairstyling though.
What do the stars of the film think, though? They probably think the film deserves to be at least nominated for all of the 16 categories Disney is campaigning for. Well, Michael B. Jordan has spoken and while he’d like the film to be acknowledged by the Academy, he sees it as the cherry on top and not something that he’s dying to get.
“The movie has done such a great job, broke through so many glass ceilings, and made such an impact culturally and around the world. If the Academy chooses to recognize that project for all of those reasons that’s amazing icing on the cake, but I think what the movie has done so far is truly incredible and a win all its own.
”I felt so accomplished doing this movie, but it’s not up to me to validate the film. So the people who make those decisions, that’s something they have to think about and figure out on their own.”
