Michael Douglas Plays Benjamin Franklin in Trailer for Apple TV+ Limited Historical Series FRANKLIN

Apple TV+ has released the trailer for the upcoming historical limited series Franklin, starring two-time Academy Award-winning actor Michael Douglas (Wall Street, Ant-Man), who portrays the American inventor and politician Benjamin Franklin. He is joined in the cast by Noah Jupe, who plays his son William Temple Franklin, as well as Marc Duret, Ludivine Sagnier, Thibault de Montalembert, Daniel Mays, Assaad Bouab, Jeanne Balibar, Théodore Pellerin, John Hollingworth, and Eddie Marsan as John Adams.

The series synopsis reads:

In December of 1776, Benjamin Franklin is world famous for his electrical experiments. But his passion and power are put to the test when he embarks on a secret mission to France — with the fate of American independence hanging in the balance. It explores the story of one of the greatest gambles of Franklin's career. At age 70, Franklin outmaneuvered both British spies and French informers while engineering the Franco-American alliance of 1778.

Franklin is written by Kirk Ellis (John Adams, Sons of Liberty) and Howard Korder (Boardwalk Empire, Perry Mason). The story is based on Stacy Schiff's 2005 book “A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America.” All 8 episodes are directed by Timothy Van Patten (The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, Perry Mason, Masters of the Air).

This looks like a very interesting time in the history of America, and though it takes place in France, it shows the relationship between our countries and France’s aid in the birth of our nation. Check out the trailer below, and watch Franklin when it premieres on Apple on April 12th.
