Michael Fassbender is Set To Star in KUNG FURY 2!
I'm sure most of you are already familiar with that crazy fun retrotastic short film Kung Fury. Well, the creator, David Sandberg, is developing a sequel to the short into an action-comedy feature film and he just cast Michael Fassbender in the movie! That's definitely a piece of casting that I totally wasn't expecting!
He will star alongside David Sandberg, who will also be in the film. Then David Hasselhoff, who was in the original short, will also be in the sequel. If you haven't seen the original short yet, I included it below for you to watch.
The movie is a homage to the 1980s and the crazy martial arts films that came from the era. The new movie will be set in 1985 in Miami, "which is kept safe under the watchful eye of the police officer Kung Fury through his Thundercops police force. After the tragic death of a Thundercop causes the group to disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon."
David Katzenberg, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Aaron Schmidt will produce under their KatzSmith Productions banner, which most recently produced Stephen King's IT.
There's no official word on who Fassbender will be playing, but I can't help but think he will be taking on the role of the "mysterious villain". This is such a very different kind of film and I'm kinda surprised that Fassbender is jumping on board. I'm not complaining, I think it's great and I can't wait to see what Fassbender will be bringing to this wild and fun movie.
