Michael Fassbender Plays an Exasperated Soccer Coach in Clip From NEXT GOAL WINS

A new clip has been released from the sports dramedy Next Goal Wins, starring Michael Fassbender, Elisabeth Moss, Oscar Kightley, Uli Latukefu, Rachel House, Kaimana, David Fane, Beulah Koale, Chris Alosio, Taika Waititi, Will Arnett, and Rhys Darby. Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) is also directing the pic, and the script, which is based on a 2014 documentary of the same name by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison, was co-written by Waititi and Iain Morris.

The film’s synopsis reads:

“Directed by Academy Award Winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok), Next Goal Wins follows the American Samoa soccer team, infamous for their brutal 31-0 FIFA loss in 2001,” the official synopsis reads. “With the World Cup Qualifiers approaching, the team hires down-on-his-luck, maverick coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) hoping he will turn the world’s worst soccer team around in this heartfelt underdog comedy.”

This sounds like a great family movie that anyone could watch and enjoy. I love a good sports movie, and you can’t really get better than based on a true story. Check out the clip from the below, and watch Next Goal Wins in theaters on November 17, 2023.
