Michael J. Fox Shares an Idea He Has for a BACK TO THE FUTURE Reboot

Back to the Future is one of those classic films that no one wants to see get remade. It’s considered an untouchable trilogy, but if it ever did happen, the star of the films, Michael J. Fox, has an idea for a reboot of the beloved movie.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fox shared his idea: "I actually had this thought that if they did the movie again, they should do it with a girl as Marty. There's something about [the franchise] that connects with people on every level. I just feel like it will come around again."

Fox took on the role of Marty McFly in the trilogy, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Bob Gale. But as of right now, there is no reboot of remakes in the works.

Zemeckis is totally against the idea of a remake or reboot, and several years ago he said: "Oh, God no. That can’t happen until both Bob and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it. I mean, to me, that’s outrageous. Especially since it’s a good movie. It’s like saying ‘Let’s remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?’ What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?”

The original contracts the two men signed with Universal give them the final say on any Back to the Future-related films as long as they're alive.

Fox went on to talk about the love people have for Back to the Future, saying: "What’s most amazing about Back to the Future is that – and it has nothing to do with me – but it has this life. People don’t just like it and remember it, they celebrate it and embrace it and get my face tattooed on their leg, and I mean, it’s crazy but in a good way."

I don’t expect to see a Back to the Future reboot anytime time soon, if ever. But if it did happen, what would you want to see in it?
