Michael Jackson's "THRILLER" to Be Re-Released in 3D

Michael Jackson's "Thriller" is not only one of my favorite songs ever, but it's also one of my favorite music videos ever produced. The 1993 horror themed music video was directed by John Landis, who recently confirmed in an interview that it is currently being prepared for a 3D re-release! How freakin' cool is that?!

Here's a little background information of what led to this coming together. In 2009, several months before Jackson passed away, Landis sued his estate for 50% of the net profits from the Thriller music video. The dispute was eventually resolved, and it allowed for Landis to move forward with his 3D plans. This is what he said in a recent interview with the New York Daily News,

"That lawsuit went on for so many years, but we settled and they paid me finally. And so, actually there is something happening with Thriller. It is going to reappear in a highly polished and three-dimensional way that is very exciting on the big screen."

The director didn't really go into any other details, but apparently the short film/music video will be released sometime next year in theaters, Blu-ray and other distribution outlets.

The report also reveals that Jackson was hoping to include a 3D version of "Thriller" as part of his London show and that his estate is also considering video game ideas for "Thriller," explaining that “It could a be a dance experience or a zombie-style,shoot-’ em-up-style movie.”

On top of all that, apparently paperwork filed by the estate that suggests several other Jackson projects could be in the works such as multiple albums, Internet games, a documentary, and even a Broadway play about the King of Pop.

I'm just excited about the opportunity we will get to see "Thriller" up on the big screen.
