Michael Keaton is Tasked With Negotiating Settlements For The Victims of 9/11 in Trailer For WORTH
Netflix has released a trailer for its upcoming drama Worth. The movie stars Michael Keaton as an attorney who is faced with the difficult task of determining how to compensate the families who suffered incalculable losses as a result of the September 11th attacks in 2001.
The movie was directed by Sara Colangelo (Little Accidents, The Kindergarten Teacher) from a screenplay written by Max Borenstein (Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla vs Kong). It also stars Stanley Tucci, Amy Ryan, Tate Donovan, Shunori Ramanathan, Talia Balsam, Laura Benanti, Marc Maron, Ato Blankson-Wood, Chris Tardio, Carolyn Mignini, and Victor Slezak.
The movie is based on true events and the story is set after the horrific 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, “Congress appoints attorney and renowned mediator Ken Feinberg (Keaton) to lead the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. Assigned with allocating financial resources to the victims of the tragedy, Feinberg and his firm's head of operations, Camille Biros (Ryan), face the impossible task of determining the worth of a life to help the families who had suffered incalculable losses. When Feinberg locks horns with Charles Wolf (Tucci), a community organizer mourning the death of his wife, his cynicism turns to compassion as he begins to learn the true human costs of the tragedy.”
It’s important to tell these kinds of stories because a lot of people don’t really know what goes on behind the scenes in situations like this, and how a system places a value on a life. I had a chance to see this film at the Sundance Film Festival, and I said in my review:
Worth is a brutally emotional film that tells a very heavy story. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house on this one. It really pulls on your heartstrings as you learn the stories of the families who lost their husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, partners, and friends. It was a rough film to get through, but it’s also one of those stores that really needs to be told.
It’s these stories you don’t really hear about or go out of your way to research, so this movie does it for you in a wonderful heartfelt way.
Netflix will release Worth on September 3rd, 2021.
