Michael Peña Wants To Be an Astronaut in Trailer For A MILLION MILES AWAY

Prime Video has released the first trailer for Amazon Studios’ upcoming inspirational movie A Million Miles Away. The movie stars Michael Peña and it tells the true story of José Hernández, the very first migrant farmworker to become an astronaut and blast off into space.

The film is described as a "tale of perseverance, community and sacrifice to accomplish an impossible dream." Hernandez’s journey led him from farming the fields of the San Joaquin Valley to NASA where he became a flight engineer. He ultimately went up into space on the STS-128 Space Shuttle mission that launched in 2009.

The synopsis for the film reads: “Inspired by the real-life story of NASA flight engineer José Hernández, A Million Miles Away follows him and his devoted family of proud migrant farm workers on a decades-long journey, from a rural village in Michoacán, Mexico, to the fields of the San Joaquin Valley, to more than 200 miles above the Earth in the International Space Station. With the unwavering support of his hard-working parents, relatives and teachers, José’s unrelenting drive & determination culminates in the opportunity to achieve his seemingly impossible goal.”

The film's cast also includes Rosa Salazar, Bobby Soto, Sarayu Blue, Veronica Falcon, Julio Cesar Cadillo, and Garret Dillahunt as his fellow astronaut. This looks like a great feel-good story and I’m always up for a great inspirational story!

The movie comes from writer and director Alejandra Márquez Abella (The Good Girls and Northern Skies Over Empty Space). It will premiere on Prime Video starting on September 15th, 2023.
