Michael Pena and Eva Longoria Join the Cast of DORA THE EXPLORER as Dora's Parents

Dora the Explorer continues to announce its cast and Eva Longoria and Michael Pena are the latest actors to join the list. THR reports that Longoria will be playing the role of Dora’s mom, Elena and according to Variety, Pena will play Dora's Dad.

Most will know Longoria for her role on Desperate Housewives, but she was also the lead in the animated series Mother Up!, and she made appearances on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Empire, and Jane the Virgin. Then there's Pena, who recently was in Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp.

Per the studio, the movie will tell the story of Dora, a girl who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents but now must navigate her most dangerous adventure yet: high school. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego and a rag-tag group of teens on a Goonies-esque adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.

Longoria and Pena join the already announced cast of Isabela Moner as Dora, Micke Moreno as Diego, Adriana Barraza as Abuela Valerie, with Nicholas Coombe, Eugenio Derbez, Madeleine Madden, and Temuera Morrison in undisclosed roles. James Bobin is directing Dora the Explorer which is currently set to release August 2, 2019.
