Michael Rooker Has Joined the Cast of THE PRESIDENT IS MISSING Series Pilot at Showtime
Michael Rooker, best known for his roles on The Walking Dead, and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, has joined the cast of the upcoming series pilot The President is Missing at Showtime. The series has already cast David Oyelowo, Janet McTeer, Paul Adelstein, Gina Gallego, and Medina Senghore. Here’s the synopsis via Deadline:
In The President Is Missing pilot, a powerless and politically aimless vice president (Oyelowo) unexpectedly becomes president halfway into his administration’s first term when President Jillian Stroud goes missing, despite his every wish to the contrary. He walks right into a secret, world-threatening crisis, both inside and outside the White House. Attacked by friends and enemies alike, with scandal and conspiracy swirling around him, he is confronted with a terrible choice: keep his head down, toe the party line and survive, or act on his stubborn, late-developing conscience and take a stand.
The story comes from the novel written by President Bill Clinton and James Patterson. Rooker will play the character Greg Parkes, “the Special Agent in Charge of the Vice Presidential Protection Detail. The impossible task of protecting James Martin (Oyelowo) has proved more than a warrior like Parkes can bear.”
This is a solid story and cast, and sounds like it could be a great series. The President is Missing is in pre-production, but with the cast coming together, I’m sure we will hear more details soon. Stay tuned.
