Michael Rooker Joins Amazon's Stephen King Series THE DARK TOWER

Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy) is the latest actor to join the cast of Amazon Studios’ adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower!

The news comes from Rooker’s official website, but it didn’t reveal who he will be playing. He will join the previously cast Sam Strike as Roland Deschain, a.k.a. The Gunslinger, along with Jasper Pääkkönen who is Taking on the role of The Man in Black, a.k.a. Randall Flagg.

The series will tell the story of “how Roland became a gunslinger and his first encounter with the villainous Man in Black.” It was previously said that the series will put the focus on “Roland Deschain, a young boy from a long line of ‘gunslingers’, and his ‘ka-tet’ comprised of Cuthbert Allgood, Alain Johns, Ileen Ritter and Jamie De Curry in addition to his girlfriend, Susan Delgado.”

It’s also explained that “Marten Broadcloak will serve as the series antagonist and his affair with Roland’s mother, Gabrielle, will factor heavily into the plot. Her affair incites Roland to pick up his guns in a search for Broadcloak and sets his father, Steven, on a mission to find him. At this time, no offers have been made to talent, but the cast should begin to assemble quickly.”

The show is being developed by Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead), Akiva Goldsman (Titans, Star Trek: Discovery) and Stephen King. The project is currently shooting in Croatia.

Rooker is a talented badass actor and this is sure to be a great project for him to be involved with. Also, this isn’t the only western that Rooker has been a part of. He also had a role in the classic film Tombstone!
