Michael Rooker To Star in Vigilante Film ROAD RAGE From The Director HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER
Michael Rooker is set to reteam with Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer director John McNaughton for a new vigilante film project titled Road Rage, which will be the first in a series of movies.
The film is described as being in “the vein of Dexter and the great avenger films of the ’70s,” and the story will “center on a serial killer who only kills those who deserve to die—presenting a modern hero who is a bad guy gone good, protecting the innocent and punishing the guilty.”
This sounds like a great project for these two talents to reunite on. McNaughton shared in a statement: “I’d wanted to work with Michael Rooker again since, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, but we never got the chance. Finally, I wrote a story that took the genre in a whole new direction. Michael Rooker as Stony; he drives a truck… and kills people. Stony is the ultimate serial killer… with a twist, and he’s going home now after twenty years to settle a score from the past.”
The movie is being produced by Tim Perell, who added: “With Road Rage, John McNaughton and Michael Rooker aim once again to create a transgressive and shocking film that will exist at the cutting edge of art and genre. As Henry was ahead of its time, so Road Rage will be ahead of this time; both a disturbing and exhilarating reflection of contemporary American culture.”
This isn’t a new concept, but maybe they will go about telling it in a different way that will make it unique. We’ll see, but I just think it’s great that these two talents are coming back together again to work on the project.
In addition to the film, Process Media will partner with the entertainment studio, iNK Stories, to develop a Road Rage video game—providing an interactive experience in which audiences can participate in the expanded story world.
If you’ve never seen Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer , you’ve got to watch it! It’s a great freakin’ film.
