Michael Rooker Would Love To Play Yondu Again in a Marvel Disney+ Prequel Series

With Michael Rooker’s character Yondu being killed off in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we knew that we wouldn’t see him come back in any new Marvel films set after the events of that film. But, if there was some kind of prequel film or series, Rooker would love to reprise his role if something like that happened.

During a recent interview with Mama's Geeky, Rooker was asked if he would be interested in returning to the role in a prequel series, and he said:

"I will sign onto anything. I'm out of work right now. So bring it on, baby, bring it on [laughs]. I'll sign onto anything. I love the [character]. I really, really, truly enjoyed playing Yondu."

He went on to say that the role was "beautifully written" and a "very well-rounded character" thanks to James Gunn, "And of course, of course [I would return]."

While there are no plans for a Yondu prequel series, there’s no doubt that the fans would love to see something like that happen! Yondu is a fan-favorite character and I would personally love to see some stories told of his earlier adventures with his Ravager crew including a young Peter Quill.

When previously talking about the possibility of seeing Yondu come back, he said:

"You know what? I loved the character. I don't know how they could do it, but of course it's possible. Anything's possible in the Marvel universe, you know, there's time traveling and all that kind of stuff. So yeah, of course it's possible. But will they be able to afford me? I don't know. At Marvel, they don't have a lot of money you know, it's really tough out there!"

Would you like to see a Yondu prequel series?
