Michael Rosenbaum Reflects on The Time He Auditioned For Star-Lord

It’s strange to think someone other than Chris Pratt could have been cast as the beloved Star-Lord in Guardians Of The Galaxy. So seeing that Michael Rosenbaum, one of my all time favorite actors from Smallville, who played a very intense Lex Luthor, actually auditioned for Star-Lord, kinda blew my mind.

Chris Pratt earned the role with his fantastic acting abilities. But things could have gone in a different direction. In a recent interview with THR, Michael Rosenbaum finally opened up about his failed Star-Lord audition.

When Rosenbaum was asked about the audition, he admitted, “Yes, I was nervous as sh*t. You’re sitting there with one of your best friends who’s directing a huge movie, who knows your ability and said, ‘I wanna see your take on Peter Quill.’ Now the pressure’s on. I just had to shut it off … I remember coming up with my own dance for the Star-Lord dance scene. I had a great partner, it felt really organic right from the start.”

Though he didn’t make the role as Star-Lord, Rosenbaum secured a role in the second Guardians Of The Galaxy as Martinex.

Even though Rosenbaum is one of my favorite actors, I have a hard time seeing him in the role of Star-Lord. So I think James Gunn made a great call with Chris Pratt.

But I do want to see Rosenbaum's Audition tape!

No author bio. End of line.
