Michael Shannon and Jeff Nichols Team Up Again For LOVING
Michael Shannon and Jeff Nichols are two talented individuals that have made great movies together. They are now set to make an interracial marriage drama called Loving, which will be the fifth movie that they will have worked on together. A couple of those films include Mud and Take Shelter. This may not be considered a “geek” movie, but I like to promote talented filmmakers that consistently make good films.
Richard and Mildred Loving were married in June of 1958. As a result, authorities broke into their home, arrested them, and they were sentenced to a year in the state penitentiary. This sentence was suspended on the condition that they be exiled from the state of Virginia. Richard and Mildred would spend the next nine years fighting to get home. All of this, because Richard was a white man and Mildred a black woman. LOVING is a story about marrying the one you want and finding the one you need.
The movie also stars Joel Edgerton (Black Mass) and Ruth Negga (World War Z) as Richard and Mildred, Nick Kroll as Bernie Cohen, Jon Bass as Phil Hirschkop, Marton Csokas as Sheriff Brooks, Bill Camp will play Frank Beazley, and Shannon will play Grey Villet, “the LIFE Magazine photographer who shot the iconic images of the Lovings in 1965.”
