Michael Bay has picked up another film project to produce for Sony Pictures. The film will be and adaptation of the audio book written by Mark Greaney titled Armored.

The story focuses on “a high-risk security contractor who suffers from old wounds– both physical and mental– and reluctantly takes a job working on a heavily armed convoy shuttling UN delegates through Mexico’s ‘cartel country.’ High on the ‘Devil’s Spine’ of the Sierra Madre, the mission turns into a desperate struggle for survival as corrupt police, rival gangs and an enemy within all try to destroy the tiny motorcade before the peace talks bear fruit.”

Well, that certainly sounds like a wild ride! Deadline reports that the focus of the story might move from Mexico and the cartels, but there’s no information on what might replace that aspect of the story.

If you’re not familiar with Greaney’s work, he’s best known for writing the Gray Man bestsellers and he was also the co-author of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan novels.

Bay most recently teamed with Adam Goodman to produce a pandemic-themed thriller titled Songbird, which will start production in Los Angels within the next weeks.
