Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver to Star in Crazy Gender-Reassigned Assassin Movie TOMBOY
THR reports that Fast & Furious star Michelle Rodriguez and Sigourney Weaver are attached to star in an absolutely crazy-sounding gender reassignment assassin thriller called Tomboy, A Revenger's Tale for The Warriors director Walter Hill. Settle in, because this synopsis is going to have you scratching your head:
The script, written by Hill from a story by Denis Hamill, centers on an ace assassin who is double-crossed by gangsters and falls into the hands of rogue surgeon known as "The Doctor," who turns him into a woman. The hitman (now a hitwoman) sets out for revenge, aided by a nurse named Johnnie, who also has secrets.
Rodriguez is to play the hitman while Weaver is the scalpel-wielding doctor when the cameras roll Nov. 9 in Vancouver.
Am I reading this correctly? Rodriguez will begin this movie playing a man, only for that character to be transformed into a woman by a sadistic doctor? I mean, Eddie Redmayne is playing a transgender character later this year in The Danish Girl, but Tomboy seems completely different, almost like an old exploitation movie from the '70s or '80s. I wonder if a movie with such a crazy premise will even work for modern audiences. What do you think?
